The house we live in says much about who we are. What our life is like, how much of our potential is available to us, what thoughts we are free to think, can all be limited by the physical house we call our body.
Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese art of gentle movements adapted from martial arts. Practiced regularly it promotes relaxation, flexibility and balance. It is said to promote longevity and prevent degenerative illnesses. Beyond that, it trains the mind to focus and enhances our experience of life
Claire Hooten was a master teacher of Tai Chi. Most instructional videos are done with the instructor facing the viewer, and that presents a difficulty. You can't easily learn that way. Your foot, arm and body must move in a direction opposite from the instructor's.
This DVD set is done with the instructor facing the viewer, and two accomplished students facing the instructor. This allows viewers to see the form in dual perspective, which is a huge aid to learning.
The Method: Tai Chi
includes the 60 simple movements known as the "Yang Style Short Form," as well as additional principles of breathing. The DVDs were first available on tape, and many practitioners consider this to be the finest Tai Chi instructional video.
